Every article on the Unstuck Journal is reviewed for clinical accuracy by a licensed clinician before it is published. This page lists who performs that review, what the review covers, and what it deliberately does not do.
1. Reviewers
Shariq Refai, MD, MBA, FAPA is a board-certified psychiatrist and the founder of Unstuck. He reviews Unstuck Journal articles for clinical accuracy and scope before publication. He is also the founder of shrinkMD and the medical editor of AnxietyResource.org and DepressionResource.org. You can read more on the founder page.
Unstuck is early, and the review board currently consists of Dr. Refai. As the Journal grows, we intend to add additional licensed reviewers with relevant specialties and to name them here. We will not describe the board as larger than it is.
2. What the review covers
Before an article is published, the reviewing clinician checks that it:
- Describes how the mind or body works in a way that is accurate.
- Does not overstate what the cited evidence supports.
- Stays within Unstuck's non-clinical scope and does not drift into diagnosis, treatment, or individualized medical advice.
- Includes a clear handoff for readers who should speak with a licensed clinician or contact crisis resources.
The methodology behind source selection and claim-checking is on the Evidence and Methodology page.
3. What the review does not do
Clinical review of Journal content is not the practice of medicine and does not create a doctor-patient relationship with any reader. Reviewing an article does not mean the reviewer is treating you, monitoring you, or available for personal medical questions. Unstuck is a self-guided wellness and reflection app, not a clinical service. See Safety and the Terms of Use.
4. Independence and disclosures
Articles are written to be useful regardless of any other product in The Shrink Network, and any material relationship is disclosed in plain English where it appears. Dr. Refai has a financial interest in Unstuck and in related companies. The full picture is on the Relationships and Disclosures page.
5. AI and human review
This website may use AI-assisted tools to support drafting, organization, summarization, grammar review, and editorial workflows. AI tools do not independently publish content. Medical content undergoes human review and editorial oversight before publication. AI does not replace human review, medical judgment, diagnosis, or treatment decisions. See the AI Use and Editorial Assistance page.
6. Contact
Questions about clinical review, or a request to flag an article for re-review, can be sent to corrections@beunstuck.app with the article URL.
