The short answer

Unstuck does not read from or write to Apple Health (HealthKit). Unstuck is not a HealthKit app.

If you store mood logs, sleep data, or any other health information in Apple Health, none of it is shared with Unstuck. Information you write into Unstuck is not sent to Apple Health.

Why we chose this

We thought about HealthKit integration during planning. We chose not to do it for now, for three reasons.

First, the brand promise is local-first. Pushing entries into HealthKit, even with permission, would be a new flow of personal information we do not need, and adding a sync that does not have to be there cuts against the privacy posture.

Second, HealthKit data carries a clinical register. Many users understand it as data they might one day share with a clinician or insurer. Unstuck is non-clinical, and we do not want a journal entry written for personal reflection to drift into a context where it can be confused with a clinical record.

Third, the integration would only help a small share of users while introducing another data surface for everyone. A few users want Unstuck to write mood logs into HealthKit. More want the app to stop where it is. The math favors not shipping the integration today.

What HealthKit would store if we ever integrate

If Unstuck adds a HealthKit integration in the future, the only data we would consider writing would be mood logs (a HealthKit category supported by Apple's Mindfulness type). Journal text would not be written to HealthKit. Pill reminder content would not be written to HealthKit. Check-in activity tags would not be written to HealthKit unless they map to an existing HealthKit category and we have a clear reason to do it.

Any HealthKit integration would be opt-in, off by default, and explained at the iOS permission prompt and in this page.

If you want HealthKit mood logging today

If today you want a mood tracker that writes to HealthKit, Unstuck is not the right app for that use case. Apps that integrate with HealthKit for mood typically advertise the integration in their App Store description.

If integration ever ships

If Unstuck ever adds a HealthKit integration, the following will be true on day one.

  • The integration will be opt-in, off by default.
  • iOS will show you the HealthKit permission prompt with the specific categories requested.
  • This page will be updated before the feature ships, with the categories, the direction of data flow (read, write, or both), and a clear opt-out path.
  • The Privacy Policy, Privacy Pledge, and Consumer Health Data Notice will be updated to reflect the change.
