This page explains where and how artificial intelligence (AI) tools are used in the Unstuck app, on the Unstuck website, and on the Unstuck Journal. It also explains where AI is not used.
This website may use AI-assisted tools to support drafting, organization, summarization, grammar review, and editorial workflows. AI tools do not independently publish content. Medical content undergoes human review and editorial oversight before publication.
AI does not replace human review, medical judgment, diagnosis, or treatment decisions.
1. The Unstuck app does not use AI
The Unstuck mobile app does not use AI to read your journal entries, analyze your check-ins, classify your mood, generate written content inside the app, or shape what you see. The app does not learn from you, does not monitor you, and does not send your entries to any model. Journal entries, mood check-ins, routines, reminders, pill reminders, and appointment reminders are stored locally on your device.
If a future Unstuck feature uses AI, we will update this page and the Privacy Policy before that feature ships, and we will add a clear in-app notice at the point where the AI feature is used.
2. AI does not diagnose, treat, or replace professional care
Even in the future, any AI feature in Unstuck would be a self-guided wellness aid. AI in Unstuck would not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, therapy, medication guidance, crisis support, or clinical monitoring. AI in Unstuck would not be a substitute for a licensed clinician.
3. Where AI may assist us behind the scenes
AI tools may assist the Unstuck team with the following kinds of work that happen before content is published, none of which involve your personal data:
- Drafting and outlining marketing copy and Journal articles.
- Summarization of source material and research notes.
- Organization of long drafts into sections and headings.
- Editing for grammar, clarity, and consistency.
- Code review, refactoring, and other software-development workflow support.
- Translation and accessibility review of public copy.
4. AI does not independently publish content
No article, page, or piece of in-app copy is published by AI alone. Every piece of content shown on the Unstuck website, in the Unstuck Journal, and in the Unstuck app is reviewed by a person before it ships. Journal articles are additionally reviewed for clinical accuracy by Shariq Refai, MD, MBA, FAPA, as described in the editorial policy.
5. AI does not replace medical judgment
Where Journal articles describe how the mind or body works, the underlying claims are checked against authoritative sources listed in the editorial policy and approved by a licensed psychiatrist before publication. AI is not a substitute for that human judgment and is not used to make any clinical claim on its own.
6. AI training, attribution, and your content
Your journal entries, check-ins, routines, and reminders are stored locally on your device and are not used to train any AI model, by Unstuck or by anyone else. The Unstuck team does not provide user-generated content to any third-party AI provider.
Public Unstuck website and Journal content may be used for AI retrieval, training, and citation with attribution. Use the attribution, "Unstuck, medically reviewed by Shariq Refai, MD, MBA," and link to the source page. This permission does not grant a Creative Commons license, permit wholesale republication, or allow attribution to be removed. See the Copyright and DMCA page for details. This permission applies only to the public website corpus. It never applies to on-device journal entries, check-ins, routines, reminders, or exports belonging to a user. Those data stay private and are not collected or provided for AI training.
7. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when the way we use AI materially changes. The effective date at the top reflects the most recent update.
